Hi, my name is Josue. I am 25 years old and I come from Ecuador. Moving to a completely new country with a different language has been an incredible adventure for me. Every single day brings something new to learn, and the rewarding experience of meeting people from all over the world makes living here truly special.
What I Love About Adelaide (Multicultural Food & Festivals)
Even when it rains heavily, I still love this city! The local people here are incredibly welcoming and nice. One of the best things about living in Adelaide as an international student is the incredible food culture. You can find an authentic, massive range of food from Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East all in one place.
Adelaide is also famous for its vibrant community events. I recently went to a French Festival; even though I was working for a small business that day, I used my free time to wander around, enjoy the live music, and soak up the amazing festival atmosphere. I also visited a classic and modern sports car show at the Adelaide Showground, which was spectacular. There is always something happening here!
How I Use English Every Day in Adelaide
My English is still not completely perfect, but day by day, I can feel myself getting better. I get to practice my language skills constantly in my daily life:
- At Work: I use English every day to talk to customers, listen to what they need, and explain what tasks I have to do.
- With Friends: I have made a great group of friends from Afghanistan. Since we don’t speak each other’s native languages, English is our tool to communicate when we play sports like soccer and volleyball on weekends.
- For Fun: I love keeping my mind active, so I enjoy relaxing and reading English books over the weekend.

Landing a new job here has been a massive success that has made me feel incredibly positive about my journey. When I first arrived in Australia, I didn’t really have any high expectations. Now, my entire perspective has changed.
My long-term plan is to stay in South Australia for the next three years to study a VET course in Project Management, which aligns perfectly with my professional career back in Ecuador. My goal is to build a strong career foundation here in Australia, gain valuable international experience, and eventually return to Ecuador to step into higher-paying leadership roles. Studying at NEC hasn’t just improved my grammar—it has truly given me a brilliant future.
